Applying Icons

If you’d rather change all the different icons in one place, you can use the freeware IconTweaker application that gives you access to change pretty much any icon in Windows XP.
Click on the round “icons” icon on the left-hand panel, and then you can customize any of the built-in icons… just click the Change button.
And then click the Open button and pick the icon file you want to use.
There’s a lot more to this application, for instance you can use it to create a theme that you could re-apply later… or you could download icon themes and apply them.

WizMouse Enables Mouse Over Scrolling on Any Window

WizMouse is a free and lightweight Windows application that enables a simple but effective trick: the ability to scroll the contents of a window that is under your mouse cursor without shifting the focus to that window.
It may not seem like much, at first glance, but the ability to scroll a window without having to click on it and shift the focus of your current window is a huge time saver. Once WizMouse is installed simply mousing over any open window and engage your scroll wheel for instant scroll with no additional click or shift in focus necessary. You’ll get so used to it you’ll forget that it wasn’t built into Windows from the start.
Hit up the link below to grab a copy of WizMouse, a free and Windows only application.

Apple releases OS X Lion preview for developers, features sneak peak

While much of the attention in recent months has centered on the iPad and what Apple has now confirmed will unveil next March 2nd, the company has also been hard at work on the next iteration of OS X.
Slated for release this summer, not much was known about OS X Lion and what new features it would bring besides some scattered details on how it meant to integrate the "best ideas" from iOS. Today Apple released the first OS X Lion Developer Preview giving us some hands-on action on what's coming next for the Mac.

Apple wants to take advantage of multi-touch trackpads and peripherals, marrying that functionality with software features like LaunchPad that turns your desktop into a set of swipeable home screens, similar to what you have on the iPad and iPhone. Mission Control is another actionable feature using touch that unifies Exposé, Dashboard, Spaces to give you a bird’s eye view of every app and window running on your machine.
Apple is also giving some weight to the notion of running applications in "full-screen" mode, a multi-tasking approach Windows users have grown accustomed to for a long time, though OS X's take will go in conjunction with the aforementioned features.
Other major features that have been announced and are certainly worth mentioning:
  • Versions, which automatically saves successive versions of your document as you create it, and gives you an easy way to browse, edit and even revert to previous versions.
  • Resume, which conveniently brings your apps back exactly how you left them when you restart your Mac or quit and relaunch an app.
  • Auto Save, which automatically saves your documents as you work.
  • a new version of Mail, with a widescreen layout inspired by the iPad; more powerful search; and support for Microsoft Exchange 2010;
  • AirDrop, a remarkably simple way to copy files wirelessly from one Mac to another with no setup;
  • an all new FileVault, that provides high performance full disk encryption for local and external drives, and the ability to wipe data from your Mac instantaneously.
  • Mac OS X Lion Server, which makes setting up a server easier than ever and adds support for managing Mac OS X Lion, iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices.

Use a virtual machine - it's free!

Are you getting viruses, spyware or other problems? Could it not be that this is happening because you are visiting dodgy websites, opening files from unknown sources, downloading "freeware" of questionable origin and suchlike? If the answer is yes, then there's no need to stop, just start being a bit more careful, that's all!

Visiting dodgy sites, downloading "freeware", or anything like that? If so, you might want to consider doing these riskfull things inside a sandbox, such as a
VMware virtual machine.

You can download VMware server for free at

http://www.vmware.com/download/server/

Surf for your pr0n inside a virtual machine instead, and then your main installation - which you trust for things such as online banking and so forth - never visits a dodgy internet site.
Install an XP virtual machine, patch it up by visiting windows update, and then start doing all that naughty stuff inside a VM instead!

If that XP installation gets infected, just delete it and start again! Or restore from a back easily, just by copying some
files.

Found 2 gems to make XP look better than Vista

Make XP Now Looks Like This..

1. Download the background(http://www.vistawallpaper.com/details.php?image_id=548) using Firefox right click image then- Save Link as...
2. Download/Install/Run ClocX.http://www.clocx.net/
3. Download/Install/Run RocketDock..http://www.rocketdock.com/

Rocket dock is easy to configure as all your icons on your desktop can be drag to the Rocket dock you see above. I also had dragged them to Quicklinks next to the Start button. I only kept what I needed to use daily in the Rocket Dock above. When you scroll through them you'll see your icon get big and displays the text of the item. This can be mounted to the bottom and left to right. Make sure you use the Rocket Dock control Panel to turn on the extra features like when you min window it will not go to the task bar it will go to Rocket Dock instead. This is an option though.

Again what you see doesn't hose, hog or waste system resources, as I can run it on old laptop with Intel PII 266MHz with only 256MB RAM. Looks the same as you see it above as I also run i on AMD x64 also can be done on Windows Server 2003, I just use a different background.

Enjoy!

How to Give Facebook a Pink Theme Instead of Blue

While we can’t understand why anybody would want a pink version of Facebook, we’re quite certain that someone somewhere would like it that way. Perhaps somebody of a less geeky persuasion.
There’s another reason why you might find this interesting of course—while you might be a geek and would prefer green on black for your Facebook experience, there’s a good chance your significant other, mom, or little sister might want it pink. You can score some brownie points by setting it up for them.
If you’re using Google Chrome as your web browser, all you have to do is head to the link below, and then click the Install button:

If you’re using Firefox, you’re going to have to head over to Mozilla Add-ons, install theGreasemonkey add-on, and then click the install button. If you’re using Internet Explorer, you’re pretty much out of luck, since user scripts don’t work on Internet Explorer.
Note: to uninstall from Chrome, head into Tools -> Extensions and click the uninstall button.

Close All of Your Open Apps in a Snap

You’ve been doing some serious work on your computer and have a bunch of apps, browsers, spreadsheets, and documents open. You’re done for the day, but closing each app and document individually is going to be a hassle. Here we take a look at an awesome utility that will close all of your running applications at once with one click.

Close All Windows from NTWind Software is an easy to use utility that doesn’t require installation, and will terminate all programs with a single click. Simply download and extract the zip file, and when you open it you’ll see the files that run it.

It will also work in XP and you could add it to the Quick Launch toolbar.
f you haven’t saved your work in a program or document, the app will ask if you want to save your work, just like if you were to close out of it normally.
If you need a way to quickly close out of all your open apps when done for the day, Close All Windows is a very cool solution.

Hackers from Kashmir Attack Sikkim Website

It looks like diplomatic talks have gone a lot further than two prime ministers talking about cross-border negotiations. It seems that a certain hacking group called the ZCompany Hacking Crew have attacked a Sikkim website
According to IBNLive, the victim site belongs to the Cultural Affairs and Heritage Department of the Sikkim government, which promotes art and culture of the north-eastern state. Even now (1:01 PM), the problem hasn’t been sorted as you’ll still see the site hacked.

The group has posted a strong message stating,
"Everyday 100s of innocent people are abused, raped and even killed in palestine & kashmir by the indian & israli army, a third of the deaths are children, who are the real soldiers? the child holding a stone or the stranger holding a gun? - we dont want war, take back ur men, ur tanks and ur guns and go back to were you came from, all we ask is for freedom, you can kill us but you cant kill us all, we shall not give up, giving up is not a option. Freedom is our goal." This is followed by a credits section of all the hackers belonging to the group and at last there are two images of stone-pelting rebels in Kashmir and Palestine (or Israel).

Although I get the fact that this group wants to get their message across; hacking a government website of Sikkim really won’t do any good.
